Position Overview: Our client is seeking an experienced Deputy General Counsel to join their legal team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in oil and gas/midstream agreements and a strong understanding of the regulatory landscape affecting the midstream sector. This role will involve providing strategic legal advice, managing complex transactions, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel on a wide range of midstream agreements, including transportation, storage, processing, and marketing of oil and gas.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements related to midstream operations.
- Advise on regulatory compliance and risk management strategies.
- Support the General Counsel in managing the legal department and overseeing external legal resources.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives and legal requirements.
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes.
- Represent the company in legal proceedings and negotiations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the state bar and in good standing.
- Minimum of 7 years of legal experience, with a focus on oil and gas/midstream agreements.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting the midstream sector.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex legal matters and provide strategic advice.
- Experience working in a midstream company or related industry is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
