Construction Litigation Associate

Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated litigation associate to join its renowned Construction group in Los Angeles. The ideal candidate will have three to five years of litigation experience and a strong interest in building a long-term career within the construction industry. The firm's Construction practice is recognized for its expertise in handling complex construction-related litigation across a wide range of public and private projects in California. This is an excellent opportunity to work on diverse and challenging cases involving both commercial and civil projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and litigate construction-related disputes, including delay and time impact claims, payment and performance bonds, mechanic's lien enforcement, and breach of contract claims.

  • Advise clients on the application of California Contractor's State License Law and disputes arising under the Prompt Payment Act.

  • Conduct legal research, draft motions, pleadings, discovery, and other litigation documents.

  • Communicate effectively with clients and opposing counsel, and handle negotiation and settlement discussions.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, peers, and other stakeholders in the construction industry.

  • Participate in hearings, depositions, and trial preparation as required.

  • Contribute to the continued growth and success of the firm's Construction group.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in litigation, with a focus on construction law preferred.

  • Experience in construction-related legal issues, including but not limited to delay and time impact claims, performance bonds, mechanic's lien enforcement, and California Contractor's State License Law.

  • Strong academic credentials and a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality legal work.

  • Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills.

  • A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to establish and maintain strong client and peer relationships.

  • Interest in pursuing a career in construction law with a commitment to long-term professional development
