Position Overview: Our client is seeking an Assistant General Counsel a versatile and experienced Legal Counsel to provide broad-based legal support across a variety of practice areas. This generalist role encompasses a diverse range of legal matters, including but not limited to environmental health and safety, corporate governance, real estate, employment, and litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong legal background, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel on a wide range of legal issues across the organization, including contracts, compliance, regulatory matters, and general business operations.
  • Support and advise on areas such as environmental health and safety, corporate governance, real estate, employment, and litigation as needed.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements and legal documents to support business activities.
  • Assist with corporate governance matters, including maintaining corporate records and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify and mitigate legal risks while supporting business objectives.
  • Manage external counsel relationships and oversee litigation and dispute resolution processes when necessary.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in relevant laws and regulations, providing proactive legal guidance to maintain compliance.
  • Offer practical, business-oriented legal solutions while balancing legal risk and organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership.
  • 8+ years of experience as a practicing attorney handling a variety of legal matters across multiple practice areas.
  • Broad knowledge of legal issues affecting corporate operations, including environmental, governance, real estate, employment, and litigation.
  • Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across departments.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
