Senior Counsel

We're working with an established, multi-state healthcare organization that provides operational support to skilled nursing facilities and other post-acute care providers. They're seeking a generalist Senior Counsel to serve as a trusted legal advisor to the CEO and executive team. This is a broad in-house role with key responsibilities across regulatory compliance, contract review, and oversight of outside counsel.

This is a hybrid role requiring 1-3 days per week in-office, based in either Los Angeles or Denver.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on legal and regulatory matters impacting skilled nursing operations, including compliance with anti-kickback statutes, Stark Law, CMF, CDPH, GLPL, and patient liability issues.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate healthcare-related agreements, including vendor contracts and service arrangements.
  • Support company-wide compliance initiatives and help develop internal policies and procedures to manage legal risk.
  • Manage outside counsel relationships and ensure efficient use of external legal resources.
  • Provide strategic input on day-to-day operational and corporate legal matters.


Qualifications

  • J.D. and active bar license (California preferred).
  • 5+ years of healthcare legal experience, with prior in-house experience supporting skilled nursing operations or similar healthcare environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, including anti-kickback, Stark, and regulations specific to skilled nursing facilities.
