Role: Assistant General Counsel
Location: Tampa, FL
Salary: $200,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Management: Draft, present, negotiate, and finalize contracts and agreements across various departments.
- Legal Counsel: Provide insightful legal advice on licensing intellectual property and commercializing research activities, ensuring compliance and managing related contracts.
- Vendor Relations: Support management by ensuring all departmental vendors have properly reviewed and executed agreements.
- Compliance: Safeguard the organization's legal interests and ensure operations comply with applicable laws.
- Hands-On Support: Offer practical legal counsel to all management levels, identifying and analyzing legal issues, drafting key documents, and ensuring legal compliance.
- Policy Development: Stay updated on new laws and policy developments affecting operations and draft institutional policies accordingly.
- Inquiry Management: Investigate and address legal inquiries related to licensures, credentialing, insurance, contracts, and organizational policies.
- Research and Recommendations: Conduct research on state and federal legislation, administrative and court decisions, and provide recommendations.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and manage a team of 3 direct reports.
Ideal Candidate:
- Expertise: Extensive experience in providing legal advice on bio-medical research, intellectual property, grants, ethics, and regulatory compliance.
- Clinical Trial Agreements: Proven experience in drafting and negotiating clinical trial agreements.
- Complex Transactions: Skilled in leading complex transactions with healthcare and biotechnology industry partners, including startups, large corporations, and academic medical centers.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements in human subject research.
Credentials and Qualifications:
- Education: Juris Doctor required; must be licensed to practice law with at least 6 years of experience.
- Certification: State Bar certification required (Florida Bar Board Certification not mandatory).
