A major player in the cosntruction arena, specializing in a variety of markets including commercial, industrial, energy, and mission-critical projects is looking to expand their dynamic and collabortaive legal team.
The Construction Counsel will be responsible for negotiating, drafting, and reviewing subcontracts, purchase orders, construction agreements, and other legal documents related to construction projects. You will work closely with various internal business units to ensure the successful execution of projects while managing legal risks and maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the construction industry, with the ability to navigate complex contractual arrangements and provide sound legal advice in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. You will partner with other members of the legal team and key stakeholders across the business to proactively address legal issues and deliver solutions that align with the company's objectives.
The Construction Counsel will:
- Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts, including subcontracts, purchase orders, and general construction agreements.
- Collaborate with business units, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure contracts align with project goals and minimize legal and financial risks.
- Advise on construction-related legal issues, including dispute resolution, compliance, insurance, indemnification, and claims management.
- Partner with internal teams to address construction-specific regulatory requirements and risk management protocols.
- Assist in the review and negotiation of vendor and subcontractor agreements to ensure favorable terms and protection of company interests.
The Construction Counsel must have:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- 4-6 years of legal experience with a focus on construction law, including negotiating and drafting construction contracts and subcontracts.
- Strong understanding of construction industry practices and the legal complexities associated with construction projects.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, contractors, subcontractors, and external counsel..
- Experience in handling a variety of construction-related legal matters, including risk management, compliance, claims, and dispute resolution.
