A Leading Real Estate Investment Trust specializing as an owner, operator, and developer of retail properties spanning across the US is looking to hire a talented Paralegal to handle all lease negotiations and drafting of retail leasing matters for the firm's Southern California properties. This is a role with a well-established and long-standing REIT, which offers the chance to lead negotiations on retail leases as well as work directly with the President of the West Coast region and the Head of Legal based on the East Coast.
This role will primarily be responsible for creating retail lease documents and related correspondence, while collaborating closely with a team of lease negotiators, attorneys, and legal leasing assistants to prepare and negotiate lease agreements for the firm's current and potential tenants. Being able to efficiently carry out these duties under limited supervision will be needed as well, as this will take the lead on lead on negotiations to ensure timely processing of documentation and smooth deal-flow.
The firm is ideally looking for candidates with 5+ years of previous experience as a Paralegal or Retail Lease Negotiator, and strong knowledge of retail lease documents including secondary documents, renewals, estoppels, tenant-executed documents, etc. A college degree & Paralegal certification, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills is required.
Responsibilities:
- Creating lease documents and associated secondary documents from a letter of intent or a lease brief
- Preparing and negotiating lease documents for existing and potential tenants
- Performing legal research on assigned properties
- Collaborating effectively with attorneys to ensure the efficient flow of deals and the smooth processing of tenant-executed documents
- Creating and maintaining files with attention to detail
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of previous experience as a Paralegal or Retail Lease Negotiator
- Strong knowledge of retail lease documents including secondary documents, renewals, estoppels, tenant-executed documents, etc
- A college degree & Paralegal certification is required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
