We are seeking an experienced General Counsel to lead the legal function for our growing property and casualty (P&C) insurance carrier. This role will be responsible for providing legal oversight and strategic guidance across product support, marketing review, claims support, and legal team management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel on product development, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and P&C insurance laws.
- Oversee the review of marketing materials to ensure accuracy, compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Advise and support claims teams on legal matters related to claim disputes, settlements, and policy interpretations.
- Lead and manage the legal department, providing mentorship and development to legal professionals within the organization.
- Serve as the primary legal advisor to senior leadership, offering risk management strategies and legal insights to support business objectives.
- Monitor changes in insurance laws and regulations and ensure timely implementation of any necessary adjustments to company policies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address legal concerns, offering proactive problem-solving and risk mitigation strategies.
- Handle all legal aspects of P&C insurance operations, including regulatory compliance, litigation management, and corporate governance.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in [Relevant Jurisdiction].
- At least 8 years of experience in a property and casualty (P&C) legal setting, with a strong understanding of insurance products, claims, and marketing regulations.
- Proven track record of managing legal professionals, providing leadership and mentorship to legal teams.
