Senior Corporate Counsel
My client is a leading global food manufacturing & distribution company dedicated to producing high-quality, nutritious, and sustainable food products. With operations in over 19 countries, they are committed to innovation, excellence, and making a positive impact on the communities we serve.
My client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Corporate Counsel to join their legal team. The ideal candidate will provide strategic legal advice and support to our global operations, ensuring compliance with international laws and regulations, and mitigating legal risks. This role requires a deep understanding of the food manufacturing industry and the ability to navigate complex legal landscapes.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate commercial and corporate transactions around the globe, including drafting and negotiating a variety of contracts to meet both operational and strategic objectives.
- Manage corporate governance activities across multiple jurisdictions.
- Assist with compliance program development and key policies.
- Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to all parts of the business.
- Partner with other key functional areas such as tax, treasury, HR/benefits and IT.
- Work collaboratively and responsively with a range of colleagues across the organization to facilitate a coordinated team approach.
- Engage and manage outside counsel, as needed, to ensure timely and cost-effective legal services.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Law degree and admission to the Kansas bar (or eligible for admission thereunder).
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
- International law experience a plus.
- Strong business acumen and able to converse about both business and legal objectives in a collaborative manner with all levels of leadership.
- Good judgment, high level of professional integrity, positive attitude and ability to work with and maintain confidential and sensitive information.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects to meet deadlines.
- Foreign language skills (French and/or Spanish) a plus.
