Job Overview:

As a key legal partner, you will lead the business's adherance to safety and environmental policies while embodying the company's core values in all aspects of your role. Your responsibilities will span various legal matters, requiring a proactive, strategic approach to ensure this company operates in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the legal representation across commercial contracts, labor relations, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, and litigation.
  • Review, draft, and advise on contractual obligations, including negotiating terms with customers, vendors, and other external partners.
  • Uphold commitment to safety and environmental practices, ensuring compliance with all internal policies and procedures, including the Business Code of Conduct.

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with senior leadership, department heads, and legal stakeholders-both internal and external-ensuring strategic alignment with the core values, goals, and code of conduct.

  • Collaborate with VP, Legal and senior leaders to support the execution of business strategies, initiatives, and key projects.

  • Keep abreast of changes in laws and regulations, providing regular updates and guidance to senior leadership on legal developments impacting business operations.

  • Provide comprehensive legal support to global operations, including corporate governance, contract negotiations, joint ventures, and acquisitions. Additionally, act as the secretary for the management board, overseeing corporate governance functions.

  • Partner with the Human Resources department to provide legal expertise on employee relations, complex personnel issues, and policy development.

  • Assist management in navigating federal and state regulations that affect business operations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.

  • Support contract amendments and act as a mediator when disputes arise, working to resolve issues and minimize impact on business relationships.

  • Oversee the timely renewal of contracts, ensuring that all necessary actions are completed before expiration dates.

Qualifications:

  • JD from an accredited law school.

  • 5+ years of professional legal experience, with a background in either a law firm or a corporate environment. In-house experience is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state labor laws, with a particular focus on Ohio law.

  • Experience with manufacturing environments and labor unions is highly desirable.

  • A keen business acumen and understanding of the financial and commercial implications of legal and strategic decisions.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal issues in a clear, understandable manner and offer practical solutions.

  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
