An industry-leading life insurance firm is looking to bring onboard an AVP-level Associate Counsel to serve as a corporate generalist for their growing business in their office located in Austin, TX. The firm is looking to quadruple in size the next few years, offering the chance for a ton of growth and development as this candidate will support different business units, including handling corporate governance matters and assisting the corporate secretary on filings and board meetings, providing support on contestable claims matters, assisting on vendor contracts, and keeping up to speed with state and federal regulations and requirements. The firm is looking for someone to maintain and build the foundation of this growing company by supporting internal operations and leadership from a legal capacity.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing legal research and keeping up to speed on both state and federal regulatory requirements, advising the DGC and General Counsel on all and any relevant matters
  • Reviewing vendor contracts to ensure they meet all privacy, cybersecurity, and data security requirements
  • Providing support to the claims department on Contestable Claims matters
  • Corporate governance support including assisting the corporate secretary on filings, preparing materials for board and committee meetings, and preparing resolutions as needed
  • Handle other corporate matters that arise on an ad-hoc basis

 

Qualifications:

  • At least 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney in a corporate generalist role
  • Experience and strong knowledge of insurance regulatory matters
  • Knowledge of life and annuities insurance products is a plus
  • Local to Austin, TX or willing to relocate
