Our client is an industry-leading privately owned food manufacturer seeking to hire a Compliance Counsel. This person will have the opportunity to spearhead various compliance efforts throughout the organization, ensuring the company adheres to relevent laws and regulations. Additionally, this person will have a hand in key business operations and report directly to the General Counsel, promoting high visibility within the legal department of one of the largest companies in its industry.
This role is Hybrid in San Diego, CA. Candidates must be able to work onsite multiple days a week.
Responsibilities:
- Update and refine compliance policies and procedures to minimize legal risks and support regulatory adherence. Manage the company's corporate compliance program.
- Provide corporate training on compliance matters, promoting a comprehensive understanding of relevant policies and procedures.
- Lead internal investigations related to ethical concerns, employment issues, compliance violations, etc.
- Draft and negotiate various commercial contracts.
- Manage the data privacy program.
- Manage external counsel.
Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school.
- Active member of any state bar.
- 6+ years of experience with corporate compliance AND contract negotiation.
- Familiarity with relevant laws including GDPR and CCPA.
