Job Description: Our Client is seeking an experienced Construction Counsel to join their legal team. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in construction law, with a strong background in contract drafting, negotiation, and dispute resolution. This role is critical to ensuring that our projects comply with all relevant laws and regulations, and that our contractual agreements protect the interests of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts, including subcontracts, purchase agreements, and service contracts.
- Provide legal advice on regulatory compliance, licensing requirements, and safety regulations.
- Manage and resolve disputes that arise during construction projects, including mediation and litigation.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure contractual obligations are met and risks are minimized.
- Conduct legal research to stay updated on changes in construction law and industry standards.
- Lead training sessions for staff on legal matters related to construction contracts and compliance.
- Ensure all contracts are in compliance with the Michigan Builders Trust Fund Act and other relevant state laws
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Michigan.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction law, with a focus on contract law.
- Proven track record of successfully managing construction-related legal issues.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
