A growing and dynamic financial services organization is seeking a highly experienced SVP, Deputy General Counsel to provide strategic legal leadership on banking regulatory matters. This is a high-impact role within a fast-paced environment, offering the opportunity to shape legal and regulatory strategy while working closely with senior executives and key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior legal advisor on banking regulatory matters, ensuring compliance with federal and state financial regulations, including oversight of key regulatory relationships.
- Provide strategic counsel on regulatory risk, corporate governance, and operational matters impacting the organization.
- Lead and manage a team of attorneys and legal professionals, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring strong collaboration with business leaders.
- Monitor and advise on developments in banking laws and regulations
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including risk, compliance, and executive leadership, to align legal strategy with business objectives.
- Engage with regulators, external counsel, and industry groups on behalf of the organization.
- Support M&A activities, regulatory filings, and corporate transactions as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
- 12+ years of legal experience with a strong focus on banking regulatory matters in a financial institution, law firm, or regulatory agency.
- Management experience strongly preferred-proven ability to lead and mentor a team of attorneys and legal professionals.
- Expertise in financial services regulations, including experience with the Federal Reserve, OCC, CFPB, and FDIC.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and communicate complex legal concepts to senior leaders.
- Experience navigating high-stakes regulatory issues and enforcement matters.
