Job Opportunity: Director-Level General Counsel
A prominent investment bank is seeking a seasoned legal professional to join its team as General Counsel at the director level. This leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee and guide the organization's legal functions related to commodities trading and derivatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal counsel on all aspects of commodities trading, including structuring, negotiation, and regulatory compliance.
- Advise on derivatives products, trading strategies, and associated legal frameworks.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including those enforced by the CFTC, SEC, and other regulatory bodies.
- Oversee the resolution of disputes, litigation matters, and regulatory investigations.
- Collaborate with senior executives to provide strategic legal guidance for the firm's trading operations and initiatives.
- Lead and manage a high-performing legal team, fostering professional development and maintaining excellence in legal service delivery.
Qualifications:
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership.
- Minimum of 10 years of legal experience in commodities, derivatives, and trading.
- Comprehensive understanding of derivatives markets, FERC, and CFTC legal and regulatory matters
- Proven ability to manage legal matters in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with a strong preference for candidates with prior management responsibility.
- Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
