Our client is an innovative and rapidly growing company at the cutting edge of blockchain and AI technologies. As they continue to scale, they are seeking a dynamic Legal Counsel to join their remote team. This is an exciting opportunity to be the first legal hire within the company and play a key role in shaping the company's legal strategies, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance efforts in the fast-evolving blockchain and AI sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel on corporate governance, entity formation, and equity structures.
- Monitor and advise on regulatory developments in blockchain, AI, and Web3 spaces, including privacy laws, financial regulations, and compliance issues.
- Draft, negotiate, and review a variety of commercial agreements, such as licensing, partnership, service agreements, and NDAs.
- Manage and mitigate legal risks, including addressing disputes or litigation related to intellectual property, regulation, and corporate law.
- Advise on intellectual property protection strategies, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and licensing, and handle related disputes.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and compliance teams to address legal challenges in the development, implementation, and marketing of blockchain and AI products and services.
- Develop strategies to engage with regulators and industry bodies on legal issues and policies affecting blockchain and AI technologies.
- Proactively identify legal risks and advise senior leadership on strategies to mitigate those risks while supporting company growth.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience at a top law firm or in-house legal department, with a strong focus on blockchain, AI, or Web3 technologies. Experience with early-stage or fast-growing startups is a plus.
- Solid understanding of corporate law, intellectual property law, and regulatory frameworks affecting blockchain and AI industries.
- Familiarity with blockchain, cryptocurrency, Web3, AI, and related technologies is required.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and navigate a fast-paced, remote work environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
