We are currently supporting a public benefit corporation responsible for public transportation in the Northeast looking to expand their Torts division. In this role, you'll oversee a high volume of personal injury and property damage claims through all phases of litigation.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all phases of litigation, including hearings, depositions, discovery, motions, court conferences, settlement negotiations, and trials.
- Develop and oversee litigation strategies to achieve favorable and cost-effective resolutions.
- Assess liability and damages, making appropriate reserve and settlement recommendations.
- Conduct thorough legal research, secure evidence, develop trial strategies, and prepare witnesses.
- Communicate effectively with external departments and assist in achieving MTA Legal Dept. goals.
- Work independently and collaboratively within a litigation team.
Qualifications:
- 2-6 years of significant litigation experience
- JD from an accredited university
- Admission the NY Bar
- Admission to the District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of NY, preferred
- Experience with municipalities, corporate entities, or common carriers, preferred
