Busy General Practice Firm in Essex County/ Newark is actively seeking an experienced Civil Litigation & Criminal Defense Attorney to join our growing law practice.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Admission to New Jersey Bar in good standing with 5-10 years of experience in civil litigation and criminal defense in the US. New York bar admission is a plus.
- Ability to handle a high caseload
- Detail oriented, organized, and quick
- Bilingual (English and Spanish or Portuguese) is a plus, but not a requirement
- Experience with Landlord/Tenant, Personal Injury, Workmen's Compensation, Bankruptcy, Family Law (divorce, child support, custody, TRO, etc.) and other areas of law
- Experience with handling application and briefs submissions to EOIR/USCIS/NVC offices as well as attending Immigration master and individual hearings, asylum interview appointments, and family petition/adjustment of status interviews, etc. (preferred).
- Experience with immigration law is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent public speaking skills
- Ability to work cases either independently or as part of a team, to develop case strategies
- MUST have a driver's license and be computer literate.
Attorneys Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide Representation at Civil/ Criminal Hearings and Mediations
- Conduct interviews, depositions, and trials
- Drafting and submitting motions, complaints, answers, forms and briefs in addition to other court/client correspondence
- Conducting complex legal research and case specific analysis
- Client intake
