A top Global Reinsurance firm is looking for a Senior Regulatory & Transactional Counsel to join their Legal team as a Vice President, as the firm experiences and anticipates a ton of growth in 2025. This role requires extensive knowledge and expertise in New York life insurance and annuity regulatory matters, as well as experience with pension risk transfer transactions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling and filing PRTs in accordance with NY State regulations, addressing regulatory issues, and providing legal expertise on group annuity transactions. This role has the ability to sit remote out of any US state, with the Tri-State area being a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Handle and file PRTs in accordance with NY State Department of Financial Services regulations.
- Manage and address issues with regulatory matters for the NY State Dept of Financial Services related to life insurance, reinsurance, and pension risk transfer business.
- Research and analyze legal and regulatory issues and questions.
- Provide legal expertise to the firm's pension risk transfer unit on all matters relating to group annuity transactions.
- Negotiate and draft pension risk transfer commitment agreements, group annuity contracts, and other documents.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in New York life insurance and annuity regulatory matters, with experience working with regulators in other states being a plus and secondary priority
- Expertise in pension risk transfer transactions, including transactional, regulatory, and administrative aspects.
- Juris Doctorate degree from a top law school, and licensed to practice law in at least one state
