Senior Counsel Position Available, Energy Company
Scope of the Role:
Our client is seeking a dynamic Senior Counsel (SC) to join their Legal department. This leadership role involves representing the organization in various legal matters, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, and providing comprehensive legal support. The SC will draft, review, negotiate, and advise on transactional matters, manage legal representation, advocate for policy in regulatory processes, advise on governance, code of conduct and ethics issues and compliance, and assist on litigation support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate with outside counsel and legal staff to achieve objectives.
- Maintain and supervise legal files related to responsibilities.
- Collaborate with staff to align business goals and manage risk.
- Provide legal advice on regulatory, legislative, environmental, and market advocacy.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts.
- Develop and maintain corporate procedures and policies.
- Interact with government agencies to achieve objectives.
- Offer sound legal advice to management and executive staff.
- Conduct thorough legal research and prepare necessary documents.
- Support litigation efforts as needed.
- Communicate effectively across the organization and with external consultants.

- Internal: Employees at all levels.
- External: Member cooperatives, consultants, contractors, and external attorneys.
Work Location:
- Office-based in Amarillo, TX.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Admission to Texas State Bar or willingness to join.
- Minimum of seven years of experience in commercial transactions and business law.
- Strong legal research, document preparation, and confidentiality skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with Word, Adobe, and legal research databases.
