The Vice President of Energy Compliance will oversee critical areas including energy compliance, risk management, and controllership for national energy transactions. This leadership role involves collaboration with various business partners to ensure the proper execution of compliance programs and to manage both internal and external reporting. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of planning, launching, and executing initiatives in response to identified issues. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing competing priorities are essential. The individual should also possess experience in designing and implementing programs involving cross-functional stakeholders. Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance of the energy portfolio with relevant regulations, contractual obligations, and internal policies, including areas such as insurance and cybersecurity.
- Develop and implement processes to monitor compliance metrics and take corrective action when needed.
- Track, manage, and report on the status of compliance filings.
- Design and maintain a comprehensive government contract compliance program.
- Stay current with and ensure compliance with evolving technical regulations and laws affecting the energy portfolio.
- Lead assurance and consulting engagements related to compliance matters.
- Oversee and manage energy-related compliance activities on a national scale, working closely with development, EPC, and regulatory teams.
- Establish and monitor operational guardrails for energy operations as part of broader risk management efforts.
- Plan and execute initiatives aimed at improving energy operations and compliance reporting.
- Maintain, update, and track documentation and data related to executed contracts.
- Conduct audits and generate reports on compliance with contractual milestones and deliverables.
- Identify potential risks in contract terms and conditions, and provide recommendations for mitigation strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, energy, paralegal studies, or a related field.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to one or more state Bars, in good standing.
- At least 5 years of experience with an IPP, electric utility, energy supplier, or an energy-intensive industrial or consumer company.
- n-depth knowledge of commercial, contractual, technical, and legal standards in the energy sector.
- Experience in compliance or risk management, ideally within the power or energy industry.
- Proven experience in mitigating contractual risk.
- Subject Matter Expertise in U.S. government contracting practices and procedures.
