Job Description: We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant General Counsel to join our client's legal team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and experience in Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulations, the Natural Gas Act, and pipeline operations. This role is crucial for providing legal support to the company's operations and ensuring compliance with all pertinent laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal counsel on matters related to FERC regulations, the Natural Gas Act, and pipeline operations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations affecting the company's operations.
- Represent the company in regulatory proceedings, hearings, and negotiations.
- Advise on risk management strategies and support the development and implementation of compliance programs.
- Collaborate with internal departments, including operations, engineering, and regulatory affairs, to provide legal guidance and support.
- Keep abreast of changes in relevant laws and regulations and advise on potential impacts to the company.
- Manage external legal counsel and coordinate with them on specialized legal matters.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in the state where the company is located.
- Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with a focus on FERC regulations, the Natural Gas Act, and pipeline operations.
- Strong knowledge of the oil and gas industry and its regulatory environment.
