Position Overview: A reputable investment management firm is seeking a skilled Labor and Employment Counsel to join their legal team. This position will provide strategic legal advice and support on a wide range of labor and employment matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations while promoting a positive workplace environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice on labor and employment issues, including hiring, terminations, employee relations, and workplace policies.
- Draft, review, and update employment-related documents, including employment agreements, policies, and handbooks.
- Conduct internal investigations regarding employee complaints and grievances, advising management on best practices for resolution.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Represent the firm in labor-related disputes, including mediations, arbitrations, and litigation as necessary.
- Collaborate with HR and management to develop and implement effective employee training programs on labor and employment issues.
- Monitor and analyze changes in labor and employment laws, advising the firm on necessary adjustments to policies and practices.
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the firm, fostering an inclusive workplace culture.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in labor and employment law
- Strong understanding of federal and state labor laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and provide practical solutions to complex issues.
