A powerhouse in the energy and construction space is looking to expand their legal team with a Senior Construction Counsel. As a Senior Construction Counsel, you will be responsible for overseeing the drafting, negotiation, and review of various legal agreements, with a focus on utility-scale projects in the power and construction industries. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in the construction and power industry, with a strong understanding of legal matters relevant to large-scale construction projects.
The Senior Construction Counsel will:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of legal agreements, including but not limited to EPC contracts, master service agreements, purchase agreements, and sale agreements.
- Providing legal guidance and support to project teams throughout the lifecycle of construction projects, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and legal requirements.
- Conducting legal research and analysis on complex issues related to construction law, power industry regulations, and contract interpretation.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, procurement professionals, and finance teams, to address legal issues and mitigate risks effectively.
- Advising senior management on legal matters pertaining to construction projects, including risk management strategies and dispute resolution.
The Senior Construction Counsel must have:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in South Carolina or eligibility for in-house counsel registration.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on construction law, preferably in a corporate legal department or law firm environment.
- Proven track record of drafting and negotiating complex construction-related agreements, including EPC contracts, master service agreements, and purchase agreements.
- Strong understanding of construction industry practices, including engineering principles, procurement processes, and project management methodologies.
- Experience working with major players in the power industry is highly desirable.
