Our client, a global leading manufacturer, is looking to identify a Senior Counsel - EHS to joing their legal team and focus heavily on enivornmental law. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing the company's environmental compliance programs, ensuring adherence to all relevant environmental laws and regulations, and providing strategic legal advice on environmental matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive environmental compliance programs and policies.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
- Advise senior management on environmental compliance issues and potential risks.
- Conduct internal audits and assessments to identify and mitigate environmental compliance risks.
- Represent the company in interactions with regulatory agencies and during environmental inspections.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on environmental compliance matters.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate environmental compliance into business operations.
- Manage environmental litigation and enforcement actions.
- Stay current on changes in environmental laws and regulations and assess their impact on the company.
- Prepare and submit required environmental reports and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in environmental law and compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
- Experience with environmental litigation and regulatory enforcement actions is preferred.
