Job Summary:
In this role, you will act as the lead attorney for critical teams involved in the development, procurement, manufacturing, and deployment of the business. As a key member of the legal team, you will be responsible for structuring, drafting, and negotiating agreements, as well as providing strategic legal counsel to internal teams across various areas of manufacturing and supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Counsel: Provide legal advice to Procurement & Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams on a range of agreements, including joint development, manufacturing, strategic sourcing, supply agreements, indirect sourcing, and logistics.
- Product Design Support: Advise product managers and technical teams on procurement & supply chain coordination during product design and development.
- Agreement Negotiation: Lead the negotiation and drafting of agreements with external manufacturing and supply chain vendors, fostering strong and sustainable relationships with partners and suppliers.
- Process Improvement: Develop and maintain templates, forms, and negotiation guidelines for procurement & supply chain agreements.
- Procurement Processes: Establish and refine processes for both direct and indirect procurement, ensuring alignment with legal and business objectives.
- Training and Guidance: Provide training and guidance to internal teams on a variety of legal issues, including procurement policies and procedures.
- Legal Operations: Manage supply-side legal operations, including contract templates, playbooks, contract databases, and monitoring of contract activity and metrics.
- Regulatory and Risk Management: Offer strategic legal counsel on key supply-side legal and regulatory matters such as supplier risk management, anti-bribery and corruption compliance, data privacy, corporate social responsibility, trade compliance, and conflict minerals.
Skills and Experience:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree.
- Admission to and good standing with at least one state or provincial bar association.
- 10+ years of experience as a commercial transactions attorney.
- Strong background in global procurement and manufacturing, with experience managing cross-border legal issues.
- Familiarity with intellectual property law and licensing, particularly in the technology or energy sectors, is a plus.
- Experience with patent licensing is a bonus.
- International legal experience, particularly in supply chain and procurement matters, is highly desirable.
