My client, a leading global manufacturing company is looking to hire an experienced Environmental Attorney to join their legal team.
Reports to: Deputy General Counsel
Location: Philadelphia
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Advise on air, water, waste compliance, and permitting issues.
- Review and revise CAA Title V Air Permit reports.
- Handle RCRA recycling/beneficial reuse.
- Review environmental provisions in commercial contracts.
- Provide legal advice on enforcement defense and administrative actions.
- Draft responses to agency information requests.
- Counsel on agency inspection preparation and response.
- Oversee environmental audits and self-disclosures.
- Respond to environmental emergencies.
- Address waste disposal concerns.
- Retain and supervise outside counsel as needed.
Support Functions:
- Provide training to corporate and plant HES.
- Draft and revise policies and procedures.
- Participate in reserve setting for off-site remediation.
- Track trends, NOVs, and penalties.
- Assist Tax Department with penalty payments.
- Comment on significant proposed environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of environmental compliance experience.
- Admission to PA Bar required.
Skills & Abilities:
- Expert knowledge of environmental regulations (CAA, RCRA, etc.).
- Experience with commercial agreements and RCRA recycling.
- Analytical thinking and execution.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to achieve results in a matrixed environment.
Working Conditions:
- Hybrid schedule (minimum 3 days in office).
- Travel up to 10%.
- Occasional additional hours to meet deadlines.
