An international Renewable Energy company is seeking a seasoned legal professional with a specialization in project development and finance to join the Houston, TX office. This role requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in navigating complex legal landscapes within the oil and gas sector. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of project development, finance, and regulatory frameworks on a global scale.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Legal Guidance: Provide strategic legal counsel to internal stakeholders on matters related to international business expansion, project development, and financial transactions, ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Transaction Management: Lead and oversee legal aspects of international transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and major project developments. Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements to facilitate business growth and mitigate legal risks.
- Compliance Oversight: Advise executive management on the implications of existing and proposed laws, regulations, and judicial decisions on the company's operations. Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international legal requirements.
- Legal Budget Management: Work within prescribed legal budgets to optimize resource allocation and ensure cost-effective legal support across the organization.
- Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Tax, Supply Chain, and Human Capital, to provide legal support and guidance on various operational matters. Support initiatives to foster a high-performance culture within the organization.
Requirements:
- Education: LLB, LLD, Juris Doctorate, or equivalent legal qualifications. Licensed to practice law in the US, preferably under the Texas State Bar rules. Dual qualification in US and England or common law and civil law jurisdictions is advantageous.
- Language Skills: Fluent in business and legal English. Proficiency in Portuguese or Chinese is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on international business expansion and compliance. Strong knowledge of the technical, contractual, and commercial aspects of the oil and gas industry.
- Personal Skills: Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, collaborate with diverse teams, and navigate negotiations effectively in a global context.
