The Senior Risk & Safety Counsel Counsel in Phoenix, AZ will assume a pivotal role in overseeing legal matters related to personal injury litigation, safety compliance, and risk management. The Senior Risk & Safety Counsel will:
- Directly handle or oversee outside counsel in litigation matters, including drafting pleadings, conducting legal research, and representing the company in court.
- Manage a docket of cases related to bodily injury, property damage, negligence, and toxic tort.
- Oversee and manage insurance-related matters, including policy review, claims management, and negotiations with insurance providers.
- Review and negotiate contracts with a focus on risk allocation and indemnification clauses.
- Provide legal and professional support to the organization's Safety Department as well as handling OSHA issues.
The Senior Risk & Safety Counsel must have:
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- An active U.S. bar license
- 6 to 8 years of experience in personal injury and risk management
- Prior experience in personal injury litigation (2 to 3 years minimum)
- Demonstrated experience supporting safety departments, area/field safety teams, and risk management functions.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance.
