The Senior Vice President, Senior Counsel position will play a key role in advising this prominent global investment bank in its commodities business across the Americas. This role will offer an extremely flexible hybrid model, as well as a competitive compensation package.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal support for financial and physical commodities across North America, including energy, metals, and agricultural products.
- Advise on financial hedging, security structures, and commodity monetization structures.
- Negotiate and draft structured financial documentation, master agreements, and bespoke commodity agreements.
- Participate in strategic planning and development, contributing to business objectives with industry, legal, and regulatory knowledge.
- Collaborate with business and functional line management to recommend, develop, and execute business initiatives within legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Manage day-to-day legal activities, serving as a subject matter expert and providing senior advisory services to business partners.
- Handle complex legal issues, making key decisions within areas of responsibility.
- Assess risk in business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws, rules, and regulations, and maintaining transparency in reporting control issues.
Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school.
- 5-7+ years of direct commodities legal experience.
- Experience in the commodity industry and/or commodity-focused derivatives industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of laws and practices, including trading documentation.
- Proven leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
