Position Summary
A leading New Jersey Hospital System is looking to hire a Compliance Officer to the team. In this role, you will be responsible for the further enhancement and administration of the Corporate Compliance Program across the organization's hospital, home care agency, and growing medical practice.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct the Compliance Program and Committee for the Hospital System - implementing the 7 elements of an effective compliance program.
- Lead the compliance function and act as a resource for all departments.
- Provide guidance, training, and instruction on daily compliance issues.
- Coordinate the development of policies and procedures to comply with local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and monitoring programs for Valley Health System departments.
- Lead compliance audits and investigations.
- Develop, assess, and improve compliance investigation processes and procedures.
- Conduct research on compliance investigations to gather sufficient evidence and facilitate unbiased resolutions.
- Deliver specialized education and training on compliance responsibilities and identify key areas for compliance training and policy development.
- Report on compliance processes, policies, and findings to upper management and regularly update the Board of Trustees on compliance activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- An HCCA accreditation, Master's degree or JD preferred
Coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA or related certification preferred - Five (5) years of healthcare compliance auditing work experience with at least two (2) years in an acute care hospital setting.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in hospital/physician coding and documentation reviews.
- Significant exposure to hospital inpatient/outpatient coding and billing methodologies (DRGs, APC, IC D-9/HC PC S II) and working with electronic health records.
