As Labor and Employment Counsel, you will manage employment and labor law matters within a rapidly expanding healthcare startup. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, your role involves developing and implementing policies that align with the company's objectives while minimizing legal risks. This position offers a unique blend of startup culture and the resources of an established firm, particularly in the innovative fields of autism care and AI.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on employee relations, compensation, and talent acquisition.
- Draft and negotiate employment-related contracts.
- Develop legal strategies aligned with company values.
- Provide practical legal advice to business leaders.
- Ensure employment policies comply with legal standards.
- Lead or assist with HR investigations.
- Provide training on harassment and discrimination prevention.
- Assist with employment-related litigation.
- Monitor labor and employment law developments.
- Offer expertise and training on HR topics.
- Field inquiries and escalate issues as needed.
- Assess and advise on employment-related risks.
Requirements:
- Licensed to practice in Florida or approved as Authorized House Counsel in Florida.
- 4-6 years of experience in employment and labor law.
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited institution.
- Clean background, drug screenings, and driving record.
- Knowledge of behavioral health issues is a plus.
- Spanish fluency preferred.
- Experience in a large law firm preferred.
- Ability to work as part of a management team.
- Knowledge of healthcare compliance, insurance regulations, and patient confidentiality laws.
- Client-service-oriented and highly responsive.
