Job Description:
They are seeking a skilled and proactive Legal Counsel to join our legal team and serve as 2nd in command to the General Counsel. As a Legal Counsel, you will play a crucial role in providing expert legal advice and support across all aspects of our investment management operations. You will work closely with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and to mitigate legal risks effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Advise on legal matters related to investment management, in a generalist role serving as 2nd in command. fund formation, structuring, and regulatory compliance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
- Conduct legal research and stay abreast of developments in relevant laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure legal compliance and provide guidance on corporate governance matters.
- Handle legal aspects of client relationships, including reviewing and negotiating client agreements.
- Monitor and assess legal and regulatory developments impacting the investment management industry.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
- Minimum 2 years of experience practicing law with a focus on investment management, ideally within a reputable law firm or financial institution.
- Strong knowledge of investment management regulations, including SEC regulations, and familiarity with global regulatory frameworks is preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound legal judgments.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
