A fast growing fintech company dedicated to fraud prevention and identity verification to help financial institutions is looking to bring on a Product Counsel that will work closely with the company's security, product, engineering data, and compliance teams to support fast pace product development and commercialization as well as the implementation of scalable privacy, risk management and other solutions across the wider business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide proactive and practical legal advice to the product team regarding new and existing products and features with a focus on data privacy, intellectual property and regulatory matters
- Develop a strong understanding of the company and its partners' data flows, integrations and models
- Assist with the continued improvement of the company's partner and vendor risk management program. Support regulatory and privacy reviews of vendors, partners and partner products
- Monitor data protection, privacy, AI, and consumer protection laws including: GDPR, GLBA, CCPA, FCRA and the EU AI Act
- Provide guidance on the development and use of AI/machine learning technologies, addressing regulatory, intellectual property, consumer protection and data privacy issues
- Negotiate and identify issues in complex data agreements
- Build partnerships across the business to ensure robust security practices and data privacy
Qualifications:
- JD and state bar membership
- 5+ years experience as a practicing attorney, ideally with some in-house experience
- Extensive experience advising on privacy issues relating to the development and use of complex technologies within a Fintech or financial services company
- Proven working knowledge of privacy laws, including US financial privacy laws such as GLBA
- Familiarity with data security concepts and strategies
- Understanding of broader regulatory landscape for financial services, including UDAAP, AI laws, vendor risk, model governance standards and AML/sanctions
