The Senior Counsel (Regulatory & Compliance) will oversee the development, implementation, and management of corporate policies and regulatory compliance initiatives. This role ensures adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards while supporting business operations. The position requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of compliance frameworks, risk management, and regulatory developments.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain corporate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws applicable to retail.
Monitor and interpret regulatory changes, providing strategic guidance on their impact on company operations.
Develop and manage compliance programs, including training, auditing, and reporting mechanisms.
Conduct internal compliance assessments and risk evaluations to identify and mitigate potential legal risks.
Manage legal and compliance investigations, responding to regulatory inquiries and audits as needed.
Provide guidance on ethical business practices, ensuring corporate governance alignment with legal standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
At least 5-7 years of legal experience in a business environment (law firm, in-house corporate compliance); in-house experience with a major retailer or Fortune 500 company preferred
Ability to work collaboratively and influence stakeholders across different business functions.
