Position: Senior Regulatory Counsel
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal counsel on state regulatory matters related to utility operations, rate cases, and compliance.
- Monitor, analyze, and interpret regulatory developments at the state level, including proposed legislation, rules, and policies affecting the utility industry.
- Represent the company in regulatory proceedings, hearings, and negotiations with state regulatory agencies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement regulatory strategies that align with business objectives.
- Advise on compliance with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) regulations and standards.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support regulatory filings, reports, and submissions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with external counsel, industry associations, and regulatory bodies.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging issues in energy regulation.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in the bar.
- 8+ years of experience practicing law with a focus on state regulatory matters and utility law.
- Strong understanding of FERC and NERC regulations, compliance requirements, and enforcement actions.
- Proven track record of representing clients in regulatory proceedings and advocacy efforts.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Experience in the energy or utility industry is preferred but not required.
