Reporting to the Regional Head of Legal and Compliance, the senior counsel will provide legal support and guidance on a variety of corporate and business matters, including securities trading business, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and other transactional activities. This role requires a deep understanding of the financial services industry and the ability to navigate complex legal and regulatory environments.
Main Responsibilities
* Draft, review, update and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including account opening and other relevant corporate and procurement agreements.
* Assist with corporate governance matters, including board and committee meetings, and corporate policies.
* Develop legal infrastructure such as documentation standardization, legal review, approval procedures and compliance rules to support our new product initiatives of various business units.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management, compliance, risk management, and business units, to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
* Manage relationships with external counsel and coordinate external legal resources as needed.
* Monitor legal developments and trends in the financial services industry and provide updates and training to internal teams.
* Assist with dispute resolution, litigation management, and other legal matters as required.
* Provide support and leadership to other members of the regional legal department when needed.
Job Requirements
* Qualified lawyer in the relevant jurisdiction. E.g. Hong Kong, Singapore, England & Wales, Australia.
* Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, preferably some in-house legal department within the financial services industry.
* Strong knowledge of securities laws, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
* Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
